After begging for one on his show only last week, faux pundit Stephen Colbert made his Grammy award presentation with Apple’s iPad in tow.
At last night’s 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, Comedy Central news star Stephen Colbert was on hand to present the Song of the Year award, with a little help from a new friend, according to Gawker.tv.
“I am proud, ladies and gentlemen, to present our first category tonight: Song of the Year,” Colbert announced. “And the nominees are…” After a few moments of checking his pockets, Colbert looked backstage and asked, “I’m sorry, where’s the list?” before reaching deep inside his jacket and extracting Apple’s latest & greatest.
“Oh, I know… it’s on my iPad!” Colbert exclaims to a roar of laughter from the crowd.
After a moment of fiddling with the device, Colbert looks down into the crowd and asks, “Jay-Z, did you not get one of these in your gift bag? Am I cooler than you?!” before he moves along to read the list of nominees from the device.
It just goes to show you, one of the perks of having a highly rated cable television show is that you get to play with new toys before the common folk. And this isn’t the first time Colbert has successfully mooched swag from Cupertino, either -- he’s frequently appeared on his show with all three models of the iPhone.
