Steve Confirms Health Issue in Letter to Apple Community
Steve Jobs posted a letter to the Apple Community this morning concerning his health which has caused concern within the community and on Wall Street.
Jobs explained that his weight loss throughout 2008 had been a mystery to him and his doctors until recently. The cause of his weight loss is a hormone imbalance that has been "robbing" his body of the proteins he needs to stay healthy.
The treatment for the problem is, "simple and straightforward" according to Jobs who has already begun treatment. The doctors expect Jobs to regain his lost weight by the late Spring.
Steve concluded his letter with the following:
I have given more than my all to Apple for the past 11 years now. I will be the first one to step up and tell our Board of Directors if I can no longer continue to fulfill my duties as Apple’s CEO. I hope the Apple community will support me in my recovery and know that I will always put what is best for Apple first.
So now I’ve said more than I wanted to say, and all that I am going to say, about this.
Steve

While it's sad to hear about anyone's illness it's actually comforting to hear that this is all that was wrong with him considering what it could have been. I knew he was sick when they pulled out of MacWorld but I was really expecting the worst. As someone that has lost a few loved ones to cancer I always hate when I see someone become a victim to that vicious disease and it's just nice to know that while he is sick he sounds far from the dangers of Cancer.
Get well Steve.
