Steve Jobs as You've Never Seen Him Before: Nervous
When people think of Apple, they tend to think of Steve Jobs. So linked are the man and the company, that when his health takes a dip, so too do the fiscal fortunes of all that he's built. Confident, polished and well spoken, Jobs rarely flounders in the public eye. If you set your Wayback Machine for a trip to the late 1970s, however, you'll find evidence to support the theory that true greatness is not born but honed over time. Ladies and Gentlemen: for your viewing pleasure, we present to you Awkward Steve Jobs!
In this awesome YouTube video, Jobs is being prepped for what could be one of his first television appearances. Resplendent in a fine polyester suit and a hair helmet, this geeky bundle of nerves is a far cry from the calm, commanding on-stage presence that we've all come to know and love. Part of us wants to believe that Jobs is still this flustered before every Keynote event, turning on confidence only seconds before taking to the stage. We're pretty sure, however, that this isn't the case.
Just like Apple, the public image of Steve Jobs was built from the ground up. The charisma that he now exudes is the product of decades of public speaking, self control and the judicious use of a reality-distortion field. If that doesn't encourage folks that dread speaking in public, we don't know what will.
