Steve's Still in Charge

In case you thought Steve was sitting at home catching up on Doctor Who or creating his own brand of salad dressing, the Wall Street Journal reports that Steve is still helping create Apple products.
Steve, of course, told us he would still be working on major projects in his open letter concerning his leave of absence. While he wouldn't be running the day-to-day operations, he would be making all the decisions that we've come to expect from Jobs.
According to WSJ sources, Steve is doing just that. He had a hand in the user interface of the new iPhone 3.0 software and he's allegedly working on a portable device that's larger than a iPhone, but smaller than a MacBook. We smell another NetBook rumor.
Steve is expected to return to the company full time at the end of June. This timetable would mean Jobs will miss this year's WWDC and the Keynote at that conference. The newest iPhone is expected to be announced at the WWDC keynote and it would be a shame if Steve didn't introduce the new iPhone to the world without his signature, "Boom!"
