Apple confirmed last month that its wildly popular “Get a Mac” television commercials had seen their final sunset, but there is a last-minute WWDC rumor out that at least one half of the commercial’s team might see one last appearance. 9to5Mac is reporting that Apple has shot a finale commercial to their popular “Get a Mac” television commercials, but this time it’s focused on the PC half of the equation with only actor John Hodgman. Hodgman, you’ll recall, perfectly epitomized the Windows PC in human form over the last several years’ worth of appearances as a friendly foe for “Mac guy” Justin Long.
The finale commercial appears aimed at an opening to this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference, which kicks off today at 10am PST. According to 9to5Mac, the new spot was “filmed at a bar in Greepoint, Brooklyn last week and get this: PC pretends to be a bartender and gets a guy drunk in order to get his hands on his new Apple prototype!!”
We hate to say that “Mac guy” Justin Long isn’t the customer, but from the description of the spot, it has the same kind of light-hearted spirit as the WWDC 2007 spot, where Hodgman appeared doing his best Steve Jobs impersonation (embedded below so you can relive the fun).
Sounds like a perfect way to kick off an event which promises the introduction of a new iPhone, which everyone has pretty much seen by now. Perhaps Apple has learned the timeless lesson, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade…”
Because the Mac OS is dead. Say hello to "iOS" and the walled garden forever. Say goodbye to open computing and the user as a favored customer from the fruit company.
