Want to see the best magazine app on the iPad? Look no futher than the just-released Tap! OK, I admit we're a bit biased. Tap! is published by Future UK (along with MacFormat, T3, TechRadar.com, and a host of others), and we're of course published by Future US, so they're our overseas brothers...but that doesn't change the fact that what they've accomplished with this app is pretty darn impressive.
It's a subscription-based app -- the reader is free in the App Store, and then you can purchase individual issues for $4.99, 3 months for $11.99, six months for $16.99, or a year for $33.99, all available inside the reader app itself.
Tap! covers the best of iOS, from app reviews to columns to features to reviews of the best gear (or "kit" in the charmingly British parlance). The print edition is also available on Zinio (in case you'd rather read it on an iPhone or iPod touch -- the new app is iPad only), but the iPad app goes further with clever features like allowing you to tweet, email, or post articles to Facebook; really, really cool 360-degree views of reviewed products; and videos. It even supports VoiceOver if you want your iPad to read the articles to you.
Tap's got an FAQ on their site with more info, you can find the app itself here, and below is a video with Editor Christopher Phin and the rest of the crew that gives you a good look at what to expect from Tap! on the iPad.
After reading the article went to App Store and searched for Tap! but found nothing. Later entered the entire title and found it. That's what happens when you get excited and skim read. Look forward to checking it out.
