Since the debut of OS X Mountain Lion, Growl users have been waiting patiently for an upgrade to their favorite notification software, which promises to integrate tightly with Notification Center. Judging from a new blog post, we won't have long to wait.
The Growl Project has posted an update to their Posterous blog with a status update on what's keeping them busy this September, and it's all good news for end users.
"Growl 2.0 has been submitted to Apple," the post begins. "Growl 2 is an update to Growl 1.4. This version adds support for Notification Center, includes 24 languages, and has a lot of other great features."
But that's not all -- the team is also beta testing GrowlNotify 2.0 and Growl Version Detective, while also adding localization to GrowlTunes 2.1 and HardwareGrowler 2.0.
"*PHEW* that's a lot in the last month and a lot more to go," the blog notes. "We expect to have the GrowlTunes and HardwareGrowler updates submitted to Apple before the end of the month."
The post also notes that Retina Display graphics are already part of the submitted Growl 2 update, while giving a tip of the hat to all the beta testers and translators that make the software what it is.
And now, the wait begins for Growl 2 to hit the Mac App Store…
