They’re Heeere: iPad App Store is Live

If you
don’t happen to be one of the few, the proud who’s holding an iPad as you read this right now, you’ll be happy to know that you can at least start perusing all the available apps with just the click of your mouse.
That’s right, boys and girls… with less than 48 hours before iPads start landing in the hands of lucky buyers, the floodgates have opened and you can now browse for iPad apps via iTunes (presumably that requires 9.1, the update released this week which brings compatibility with the new device).
By clicking the
top-secret link that your friends at MacLife.com have gone to great lengths to bring you, you’ll be taken to a magical place on iTunes where you can peruse pages upon pages of apps you’ll have to wait until Saturday to actually install. However, you can actually purchase and download them right now -- we just did it with the free AIM for iPad and it worked just fine. We just, you know, can’t actually do anything with the file without the iPad itself. (Insert sad face here.)
So what can you expect from the first wave? Lots of recognizable names, such as
The Wall Street Journal (their app looks
amazing!), Twitterific, the aforementioned AIM, Things,
USA Today, Weatherbug Elite, eBay, Tetris and yes, Pac-Man!
Seriously, it will take you awhile to check ‘em all out, so stop reading this immediately and go look for yourselves! (But be sure to come back here again soon for more cool iPad pre-launch news…)
