If Apple doesn't introduce some kind of tablet device at the end of
this month, they're going to be just about the only ones. Everyone,
even Microsoft is getting into the game, including the latest
contender, Dell.
The folks at Engadget got about 90 seconds to look at and photograph
the device as well as a spreadsheet suggesting the name of the new portable will be Streak. It's features a five inch screen, almost too big really to
be a phone handset, but it does come with a dialer and runs on the
Android mobile operating system. From images, you can see that it
sports a 5.0 megapixel camera on the back and comes in a sporty red
color. There is also speculation that the back has a removable battery
door.

According to blog Pocket-lint, the slate device (is everyone jumping on
that name bandwagon now?) will include a SIM-card slot perhaps
indicating multiple carrier potentials. A Dell spokesperson confirmed
that the company, while preparing to release the five inch screen
version, is also at work on other sized iterations.
The question now becomes if Apple is planning on a release of their
slate, other than sweet design and pitch-perfect marketing, what's the
ace up their sleeve to set their product higher than the rest?
