Marvel's latest Thor adventure hammers its way into movie theaters this Friday, but the folks at Gameloft are already taking iOS and Android gamers all the way to Asgard with an official game based on the new film.
Gameloft released the latest Marvel movie tie-in last Thursday with the official mobile game for Thor: The Dark World, the latest chapter in the hammer-wielding superhero saga which lands in theaters this Friday, Nov. 8.
"Malekith, the lord of the Dark Elves and ancient enemy of Asgard, leads an invasion to destroy the Nine Worlds!" the app description reads. "Thor must race to stop the Dark Elves from plunging the universe into darkness! Join forces with Asgard’s greatest warriors and embark on an epic quest to stop Malekith’s dark ambitions and restore order to the Nine Worlds."
Unlike Marvel Entertainment's previous Thor: Son of Asgard game which is still priced at $2.99, Gameloft's new universal app is 795MB of freedom -- at least until you actually start playing it, at which point players have the option to "purchase virtual items" or put up with "third-party advertisements that may redirect you to a third-party site."
Be that as it may, the graphics for Thor: The Dark World look to be an improvement on the earlier paid title, and for the price of free, it's worth a download to find out if the freemium offerings actually wind up spoiling the fun.
