If you’ve been pumped up since seeing Marvel’s comic book hero Thor brought to life on the big screen last weekend, you may equally excited by the company’s small-screen edition, in the form of a new game that just hit the App Store.
Marvel Entertainment has followed up their popular iOS comic book reader app with a new game dedicated to the latest of their superheroes to hit the big screen. Thor: Son of Asgard thundered into the App Store overnight, available as a $4.99 universal app for the best possible gameplay on both iPhone/iPod touch and iPad as well.
“Play as the Mighty Thor and defend Odin’s Kingdom of Asgard from her enemies!” the app description touts. “Son of Asgard features stunning HD graphics optimized for Retina Displays that bring Asgard and Thor to life. Step into the role of Thor in this epic 3D action game. Asgard is under siege from forces both inside and outside its walls. Wield the great hammer Mjolnir as you battle rampaging foes to protect the kingdom and the nine worlds.”
You won’t be alone in your journey -- famed Thor allies such as Sif and the Warriors Three will stand by your side as you battle fearsome enemies like Dark Elves, Trolls, Ulik and the Midgard Serpent, straight out of the pages of the Marvel comics we all know and love.
The lore of Thor comes to life with an original story and script written by Marvel writer Bryan J.L. Glass. Comic panels by Marvel artist Ron Lim and a compelling original soundtrack complete an engrossing Thor experience.
Thor: Son of Asgard is available for $4.99 on the App Store. The 317MB universal app is optimized for both iPhone/iPod touch as well as the iPad and requires iOS 4 or higher.
