It seems like just about everyone with the time or resources to do so is cranking out their own apps these days. The latest to the App Store party? Time Warner Cable.
While the company has plans for their iPad-only application that includes allowing users to transfer content they had been watching at home on to their tablets to watch later, the app is really just a friendly user-interface that Time Warner Cable's subscribers can use to navigate through the company's television offierings. The app also provides an extensive program guide and the ability to group programs and channels into custom-built sections.
Additionally, there's a possibility the company could share the application's APIs, meaning that a third-party developer could someday bring the same functionality to other hardware such as game consoles, laptops and smartphones.
And if that's not enough to keep you busy tapping and swiping away on your iPad, venerable magazine Slate has also announced an iPad-native app to make reading their content that much easier. The app offers Slate readers the ability to not only read the magazine's latest offerings, but also allows for the consumption of podcasts, blogs and video.
If you've been looking for new ways to get your media groove on, there's no better time than the present.
