It was only yesterday that we told you about T-Mobile USA's big event coming up next week, and now it seems at least some of those plans have been leaked in the form of new pricing.
Engadget is reporting that T-Mobile's big shindig on Tuesday, March 26 might be a tad less big now that what appears to be an internal memo spilling the beans on the carrier's upcoming "UNcarrier" rates has been leaked.
"UNcarrier" is T-Mobile USA's new strategy for acting less like a traditional U.S. wireless carrier. Instead of subsidized handset pricing which has been the normal in this country forever, T-Mobile hopes to lure users to bring their own devices by saving big on the actual service instead.
A big part of those plans appears to be unlimited talk and text, with a sliding scale depending on how much data each user plans to consume. The company's so-called "Classic" tiers start at $60 for 500MB with Smartphone Mobile Hotspot (SMHS) included, while another $20 brings that data up to a more reasonable 2GB.
Prefer to go truly unlimited? T-Mo has your back for only $90 per month, but there's a catch -- you'll have to pay extra for mobile hotspot, with 2.5GB clocking in at $10 and 4.5GB jacking up the price by $20.
The report claims the Classic plans outlined here "may only be available at third-party stores," while T-Mobile itself may offer the more lustworthy (and contract-free) Value plans starting at $50, with an unlimited offering first leaked in January for a sweet $70 per month.
