It may look a little goofy in action, but we're pretty excited to try out Illusion Labs' new extreme sports game Touch Grind BMX. It's the spiritual successor to the fun early iOS multi-touch game Touch Grind in which players flicked around a skateboard on the screen with their fingers instead of feet. This new game ups the ante in many different ways and brings it into a full-fledged 3D world.
The previous game featured a camera view that was disappointingly straight down. You could only see the top of the board and a few feet around it. Touch Grind BMX on the other hand pulls the camera behind you while you ramp off huge jumps and pull tricks on an actual track. As fun as the original was, we're looking forward to trying out the formula again in this new format.
As the video below shows, the player's two fore-fingers rest on the seat and handlebars of the bike. Different motions of those two fingers will result in unique tricks like tailwhips and back flips. The game is scheduled to arrive in the US App Store tonight, and will cost $4.99.
