Are you geared up for the new Transformers movie opening in theatres this week? If not, perhaps you need a little inspiration in the form of an officially licensed “mix and match” app that just landed in the App Store ahead of the big-screen version.
iStoryTime has just announced their latest creation has invaded the App Store in the form of Transformers: Dark of the Moon Mix and Match Book. Under a partnership with Reader’s Digest Children’s Books and Hasbro, Inc., the company’s latest storybook is a $2.99 universal app for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch that can be used to create over 200 different reading adventures between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons ahead of the June 29 release of Michael Bay’s latest feature film.
“Until now you could only magine a Transformer that combines the sleek sports car look of Bumblebee and the power-packed features of Optimus Prime with the mechanical legs of the Autobot warrior Ratchet,” explains iStoryTime co-founder Woody Sears. “Now you can build any Transformer you can imagine right on your iPhone, iTouch or iPad.”
Transformers: Dark of the Moon Mix and Match Book is an interactive app that allows fans to swipe through the original story, create their own adventures and even shake the device to randomly unlock unimaginable Autobot and Decepticon story and character combinations -- including combining heads, bodies, legs, weapons and other features like never before.
The new Transformers app was written by author David Roe and illustrated by Alex Mine and Rob Ruffalo of Udon, whose prior credits include G.I. Joe vs. The Transformers: The Art of War. In addition to unique “mix a story” and Create-a-Transformer features, the storybook also features a “read to me” mode as well as a colorful guide to the Autobots and Decepticons that appear in the new movie.
While there’s little doubt that Transformers: Dark of the Moon Mix and Match Book will appeal to die-hard fans of the toy, comic, television and movie characters, most anyone else is sure to have a blast with the universal $2.99 app, which is now available for purchase on the App Store; the 18.4MB app requires iOS 3.0 or later.
