Tweet In A 3-D Space with TwittARound

It would seem that everyone is going after the notion of augmented reality, developing applications that make your computer fit and extend the world around you. TwittAround is an iPhone application that was developed so you can visually see where tweets (messages sent through the popular Twitter social network) are coming from. The app uses the iPhone's built-in camera to give you an overlay of user pictures on the image horizon, thereby showing the location of the tweet.
If you think you'll get your hands on this app any time soon, however, you might be wrong. That's because Apple doesn't allow the APIs for the camera to be used for augmented reality apps. The field of augmented reality is growing at an expanded pace and many developers actually want to use the camera in this way; that's why Games Alfresco has started a petition for Apple to expand the locked-down APIs.
