Twitter's upcoming API changes have been met with derision by many, but third-party developers are simply moving forward and adapting to the new guidelines, which are rolled into the latest Tweetbot updates.
Tapbots have announced new versions of its Mac and iOS Twitter clients to comply with upcoming Twitter API changes, and these updates should be considered mandatory: The old versions will stop working after the API kicks in on March 5, 2013.
Tweetbot for Mac 1.2 received the biggest list of changes with this week's update, adding new options for the menubar icon and dock badge under Preferences > Notifications as well as the ability to enable or disable notifications for tweets from specific users through a Control-click contextual menu.
The update also adds thumbnail support for Vine and Flickr, the ability to reorder accounts in Preferences, support for tweeting .MP4 video and a literal laundry list of other tweaks, bug fixes and improvements.
Although they don't come with such a big list of changes, Tweetbot for iPhone/iPod touch and Tweetbot for iPad have also been updated to version 2.7.2 in compliance with Twitter's new 1.1 API changes, as well as to conform to the microblogging service's new user interface requirements.
Hit the Mac and iOS App Stores to grab your updates before March 5, otherwise don't be surprised if Tweetbot takes a nap on that date…
