Twitter updated its apps for iPhone and iPad today, with a number of improvements related to search and viewing links posted within the timeline. But at the same time, the social network has also removed three alternative video uploading services.
Version 5.4 of Twitter for iOS has gone live. As noted on the Twitter blog, the update features a new way of viewing links in the timeline. You'll still be redirected to your mobile browser, but Twitter will actually place the original Tweet as an overlay at the bottom of the screen.

"This provides additional context to the page you’re viewing, and makes it easy for you to retweet, favorite or reply to the Tweet as you’re reading an article or watching a video," said Twitter. "If you don’t want to see the Tweet, simply tap the page and the Tweet will slide away from view."
Additionally, Twitter claims to have improved the iOS apps' autocomplete functions, showing more possible options when searching or writing out your 140-character masterpiece. The updated autocomplete should generate choices more quickly.
Not mentioned on the Twitter blog, and placed at the bottom of the Version 5.4 update notes, is the elimination of a few video upload services. Uploading clips through Mobypicture, Vodpod, and Posterous is no longer supported with the new update.
