Australia-based Queensland University of Technology posted on its ‘
Health and Safety’ website that the MacBook glossy screens may cause health issues and the university is urging users to take caution on how the screen is positioned to surrounding windows.
The University’s advisory recommends that users "close their blinds or window shades and place the glossy displays at a 90-degree angle to any overhead lighting to minimize glare and reflection." Observations show that relations with the glossy screen and the position of the user could cause “awkward postures when viewing.” The advisory also recommends that the University not purchase any more glossy/glass screens.
If you're a fan of MacBooks, but you fear for your health and safety, there are third-party matte finish overlays for Macbooks. Just don't tell the dean what you're up to.
