The strange saga of 4th and Battery's Unpleasant Horse continues today as the game appeared ever-so-briefly on the New Zealand App Store, then it was reportedly pulled from the store abruptly. It was available long enough for discussion to begin about the game on the forums over at TouchArcade, but then it was gone with no official word or explanation.
Word of the game's rejection by Apple was leaked last time by a short-lived post on the official PopCap Twitter account that was quickly deleted, but no such word has yet become available. It seems PopCap didn't enjoy having their dirty laundry aired out on Twitter. As of right now the story is still developing, and is based on some speculation. We have no idea what could have happened to Unpleasant Horse just yet.
Was Unpleasant Horse just to unpleasant to be suitable for even mature App Store customers? Or did PopCap voluntarily pull the app for other reasons. It's worth noting that there are those in the industry that have begun to suspect this could all be a publicity stunt to get extra press for the first release from the new label. Perhaps 4th and Battery wants to hype up how naughty its Unpleasant Horse truly is. We may never know the true answer as Apple hasn't offered any words to explain the initial rejection or today's bizarre disappearing act.
It's been a strange nine day saga since the game was announced, but we're still expecting to see the game go live very soon.
