Verizon Unveils FiOS iPhone App
Verizon has released the FiOS iPhone app out into the App Store, which allows users to be able to interact with their FiOS TV.
According to Verizon, the new app lets users use their iPhone as a FiOS TV remote control to manage their DVR remotely and flick through photos from their mobile device through the television.
In addition, Verizon has also added the option for consumers to purchase an iPhone when they purchase a FiOS or High Speed Internet triple play or quad-play bundle. Some of the benefits of the bundle include:
- A $200 Verizon Rewards Card that can used to offset the cost of a new iPhone.
- A $9.99 monthly bundle discount on a FiOS bill, or $4.99 monthly on a new HSI bill.
- Or, if you order a FiOS quad play at any Verizon Wireless, Verizon Plus or Verizon Experience store and you can get an additional $10 in monthly savings for the first 12 months of your bundle.
Certainly if you've been on the fence about switching interner service providers, or are in the market to switch, Verizon seems to have certainly sweetened the deal!

I agree, this isn't anything special. When is Verizon going to release an app that allows streaming to the ipad?

Verizon's press release actually muddies the waters. A Verizon FIOS iPhone app has been available for several months at least, allowing you to manage your FIOS DVR on the go by scheduling recordings and managing the saved recordings. What's new is today is (1) a new version of the existing app that mostly just has a new skin and the ability to manage multiple DVRs instead of just one, and (2) a separate iPhone app that lets you remote control a cable box (pause, play, change channels, etc.).
In between the original iPhone app release and today, an iPad app was released offering both DVR management and remote control functions.
