Verizon Wireless started its new Trade-In Program today, allowing you to send in your old device to score a Verizon Wireless gift card for the amount of the appraised device. Oddly enough, they are accepting iPhones as a part of this trade-in program, too. This means you to send in your iPhone 4 32GB model and get a $212 gift card.
Perhaps Verizon did this out of desperation, but more likely they are trying to convert AT&T-iPhone customers into Verizon-Droid customers. Here's the trade-in value of the different iPhone models they are accepting (this value is for a working device without any screen cracks):
iPhone 3G 8GB Black - $36.00
iPhone 3GS 8GB Black - $36.00
iPhone 4 16GB Black - $212.00
iPhone 4 32GB Black - $212.00
The white iPhone 4 is listed on the trade-in page, but no price has been assigned yet.

The phone just came out and they want to give less than half the cost? Meanwhile, you're stuck with an obligation with AT&T (unless you bought it earlier without a contract {costs more}), which will cost you at least $200 to get out of. Come on now Verizon, you rob people with a ski mask in the dark. Not online.

Why would you want to send it to Verizon when you easily sell it on eBay for much more? I know someone who switched to Verizon because of poor AT&T coverage in his area, and he sold his iPhone 4 for $650.
