Apple has given us the wonderful option of using a keyboard with the iPad, but what about a mouse? One adventurous soul has actually found that it’s possible, with a little hackery. Redmond Pie has all the details on the latest iPad trick involving a Magic Mouse working with the device, including complete directions on how to make it happen and a YouTube video of it in action (embedded below).
Of course, this isn’t officially sanctioned (and would certainly be frowned upon) by Apple, particularly since it involves a jailbroken iPad and the BTstack Mouse app from Cydia. The trick is useful even for those without a Magic Mouse, as Redmond Pie notes that it also works “with almost all the other Bluetooth enabled mice” they had on hand.
BTstack Mouse is not a new hack; it was first released earlier this year to enable mouse support on jailbroken iPhones and iPod touches. Between this and the other jailbreak hacks floating around -- including attaching an external hard drive to your iPad by way of the camera accessory -- the iPad has become even more useful than before.
Check out the video below, and if you’re the adventuresome type, head over to Redmond Pie and get the details on empowering your iPad with mouse support!
