“Our long national nightmare may soon be over,” smirked Jon Stewart Tuesday night on The Daily Show as the faux news host trumpeted the coming of the Verizon iPhone and the end of AT&T’s exclusive domination over the device.
CrunchGear is reporting that The Daily Show host Jon Stewart had a bit of fun on Tuesday night’s show at the expensive of onetime exclusive iPhone carrier AT&T in what the website called “the most honest Daily Show segment in the show’s 14-year history.”
“Those us in the iPhone community have sacrificed one thing for the ability to carry around every photo we’ve ever taken -- or video we’ve taken -- or song listened to -- or have a compass,” Stewart announced. “We have sacrificed the ability to make phone calls.”
After a brief clip of Verizon COO Lowell McAdam announcing that the iPhone 4 would be coming to the network on February 10, Stewart let out two cries of “freedooooooom!” prior to skewering AT&T’s network service, explaining that he’s had to carry around two phones all these years just to enjoy the iPhone.
Check out the embedded video below for the full seven minutes, which will warm the cockles of every iPhone user’s heart -- at least the ones on AT&T, anyway.
