The spotlight is back on the iPhone 4, with the first Verizon commercial hitting YouTube and new, slightly modified bumper cases that work with both carrier’s models making their way to an Apple Store near you.
Engadget has a couple of Verizon iPhone 4 tidbits that popped up on Thursday. The first and decidedly most exciting is the debut of a commercial for the carrier’s new iPhone 4, which is basically summed up in the narration: “To our millions of customers, who never stopped believing this day would come.” It’s a dramatic advertisement, particularly since it doesn’t show a single iPhone 4 or screenshot. Check out the embedded version posted below.
“One reader visiting the Apple Store stumbled upon a bumper with a slightly different packaging,” Engadget reports. “Thankfully, this intrigued him enough to pick one up and do a side-by-side comparison between this new ‘universal case’ and the old first-party solution. The only change, since volume buttons are mapped identically between the two, is a slot for the mute button that's decidedly less mute. Definitely works with his AT&T model and should theoretically fit Verizon's model, too.”
Good to hear that Apple is already addressing this issue before the Verizon iPhone 4 even hits stores next month, but we wonder how many third-party case manufacturers will have time to get their refreshed models into stores in time for Big Red’s debut?
