Want a New MacBook Pro? Steve Jobs Says “Not To Worry”

Historically, long wait times for something like the MacBook Pro generally means there might be a newer model in the pipeline. Is that currently what’s happening?
MacRumors is reporting that “MacBook Pro supplies to retailers have abruptly become constrained, possibly suggesting that updates could be imminent.” Of course, it could also have something to do with rumors last week that a shortage of Intel chips for laptop computers was the culprit.
Regardless, an enterprising MacRumors reader decided to go straight to the man who would know: None other than Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Concerned about “how long he’s had to wait for the new MacBook Pro updates” and Apple’s recent focus on the iPad, the reader inquired:
“I recognise the need for secrecy, etc. but I am really losing heart in the lack of vision for the MacBook Pro and Mac Pros. Not expecting a response but as someone who has personally switched dozens of people onto the Mac way, this is a sad e-mail for me to compose.”
“Not to worry,” Jobs wrote back, in his customary short and sweet style.
The question on our minds now is: Does this mean a new generation of MacBook Pro is on the way, or simply that the supply constraint will be lifted soon? Inquiring minds want to know.
