That Was Fast: iPhone 4 Sells Out on Chinese Apple Online Store...

Since the event has already taken place, it seems to me that these headlines should be expressed in their proper tense. It was amazing that these iPhones sold at such an alarming rate by your assessment; it means that this event has already taken place. How can you mix two verbs: Was (Past Tense) and Sells (Present Tense) in the same sentence and much less within the same context?
Therefore, your headline should read as follows: That Was Fast: iPhone 4 SOLD Out on Chinese Apple Online Store...
I seem to have a very difficult time dealing with the reason as to why writers today have forgotten to conjugate verbs in their respective forms...
