The review units of the new Mac Pro started arriving at various media outlets today, and MacFormat (our sister site over in the UK), has already put together their own unboxing video of the unit they received. With over 15 minutes of footage, it provides a good way to see what you'll be getting sometime in February if you order the unit today.
As we've long known, the unit itself is a thing of beauty (if painfully pricey for most), but the unboxing reveals that even the packaging mirrors the sleekness of the machine itself. There's a handle at the top of the minimalist box, and several other commentators have noted how heavy it is in comparison to how it looks. Even the foam protecting the unit reveals some of Apple's signature style, and it's reported to be environmentally friendly.
The Mac Pro was constructed in the United States at a facility in Austin, Texas. Although the machine's only been available for several hours (even though relatively few people get to handle one), Apple's already released a firmware update for the device. As Cult of Mac reports, Apple says the "update improves system reliability during reboot, resolves an issue with memory self-test, and improves graphics power management when using Boot Camp."
