This week's reviews include one of the hottest phones from this year's Mobile World Congress, the HTC Desire S. It's the follow-up to the best-selling HTC Desire, but can it top the highs of the handset it replaces?
We've also fully reviewed Android 3.0, the tablet OS that hopes to conquer the supremacy of iOS as well as the incredibly quick six-core Intel Core i7 990X Extreme Edition.
Top five reviews on TechRadar
The Desire S is a great phone, but it feels like it doesn't live up to its grand name. We loved the original Desire so much. It was offering an experience comparable to the iPhone 4 three months before Apple's device was even announced.
Android 3.0 is powerful and fast. It looks closer to what you'd expect in the modern computing age and not as much like an enlarged version of the smartphone operating system. A few problems still exist, but they are relatively easy to overlook.
Perfect for anyone wanting to cleanly wall-mount a TV thanks to its novel HDMI switching feature, TVonics has come up with a Freeview+ HD recorder that's hard to beat.
With six full-spec Nehalem cores doing the business, working in parallel, it chews through multithreaded benchmarks like a hot knife through milk. A lightening chip though, unreasonably expensive - the last gasp of the X58 chipset?
Hardcore AV geeks will always remain sniffy about passive 3D screens because of the drop in picture resolution, but LG needn't be bothered – the 47LW550T is a consumer product, not a reference-grade 3D display.
