It’s hard to imagine after all this time that anyone is actually still holding out for the fabled white iPhone 4, but assuming it’s true, both of you guys or gals will be happy to hear that the mythical device is still on track for a spring release.
AppleInsider is reporting that Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller took to his Twitter account on Sunday to set the record straight about the white iPhone 4, which has been plagued with delays and setbacks in its march from Shenzhen, China factories to customers’ hands.
In response to a Twitter inquiry, Schiller replied, “The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).”
Of course, the news is hardly a revelation, since the company made an official announcement last October promising the white iPhone 4 would be available in the spring -- but it’s always nice to know things are indeed on track.
Apple successfully launched the iPad 2 last Friday, which is available in both black and white models, although in the case of the tablet device, the color is only relevant to the front bezel frame around the screen, where the iPhone 4 color extends to the back of the device as well.
The company planned to release the white iPhone 4 along with the black model last June, but manufacturing issues reportedly related to the paint used for the white model has kept potential customers from achieving their dream of owning one.
The real question now is, why would Apple even bother with a white iPhone 4 at all when an iPhone 5 is presumably coming in June or July of this year? No one knows for sure, but if you’ve really got your heart set on white, your prayers may be answered soon enough.
