So maybe you love Mac OS X, but for whatever reason you can’t bring yourself to buy an iPhone and instead have chosen a Windows Phone 7 device. Now, you can merge those two worlds in one unlikely place: the Mac App Store.
Engadget is reporting that Microsoft has just released their Windows Phone 7 Connector software to the Mac App Store, which marks the debut of the software giant to Apple’s latest storefront. Available since October as a beta, it appears the groovy folks in Redmond have finally blessed the software with a version 1.0 stamp, which now enables WP7 handset owners to get their Mac OS X on.
In case you aren’t familiar with Windows Phone 7 Connector, Microsoft describes it as “a simple, easy-to-use application designed to sync your favorite media files from your Mac, with your Windows Phone 7 or Zune HD. You can also sync photos and videos you captured on your phone with your Mac, and when needed, update your Windows Phone 7 software.”
Sounds pretty good to us, so we’d guess that WP7 owners will be even more exciting, although Engadget notes that the final 1.0 build doesn’t appear to offer anything more than the beta version did. However, being able to easily sync your (non-DRM’ed) iTunes media and install firmware updates is pretty handy nonetheless.
Windows Phone 7 Connector is a free 2.6MB download from the Mac App Store and requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later.
