WSJ: Apple To Attend CES 2010? -- Yeah, Not So Much

When Apple pulled out of Macworld, many Mac followers were dismayed. Some wondered if Apple would be attending any other conferences, and it looks as though they finally have an answer. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple will be attending CES 2010, a major step towards the world of consumer electronics (could this be when they launch the rumored "iTablet"?).
According to WSJ reporter, Ben Charny reported that Gary Shapiro, the cheif executive of CEA (the company that puts on CES every year) recently told some journalists that he had asked Apple to kick off the event with a keynote. Apple has been aksed to come to the event multiple times, but alas, they have always failed to reply to the offer.
Ryan Block over at Engadget weighed in on the situation; he was at the dinner for the journalists, but says that Shapiro was jokingly saying that ocassionally he will get a repsonse back from Steve Jobs via email. Ryan Block also noted that Shapiro never officially stated that "Apple will definitely be there."
It would be nice to see Apple keynoting the event, but it would seem that the details are still up in the air. You can read the fully stories on Engadget and WSJ.
