Well, that's that. With the iPad's release just days away, consumers and journalists alike can finally return to blindly
flailing at every iPhone rumor that comes down the pike.
Today's Wall Street Journal has detailed a leak from 'sources briefed on the matter' in which scant details of two, count 'em two, new iPhones will make their debut this summer. One of the phones will be designed to interface with a CDMA network - Verizon, we're looking at you.
Why's this significant?
Well, such a change would mark a departure from AT&T's exclusive rights to the iPhone in the United States, and make for a more competitive market in the arena of iPhone data and talk plans. This in turn, will make for far happier iPhone owners.
Choice is a very good. thing.
One of the phones will be kicking it old school, with its production being handled by iPhone's traditional manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., a Taiwanese company. If the rumors run true, the CDMA model of the phone will be cranked out by Pegatron Technology Corp.
We'll no doubt be bringing you more information on this one in the weeks and months to come.
