We’ve heard for weeks that enterprising iOS hackers have been able to apply their tools to the new Apple TV, but there’s been no evidence of it -- until now.
Engadget is reporting that the iOS jailbreak tool Greenpois0n has now been used on the new $99 Apple TV, and the proof is the photo above, courtesy of hacker posixninja’s Twitter feed late Tuesday.
The box has previously been jailbroken by the SHAtter exploit, although no one ever provided any photographic evidence of it to the public, and the exploit has been tucked away for another day after hacker Geohot came forward recently with his own Limera1n tool for iOS 4.1 devices.
Of course, just because you can get Greenpois0n hacking your Apple TV doesn’t mean you can actually do anything with it yet -- there is still no way to get iOS apps installed on the device, but you can bet they’re working on it.
