You Might Get An iPad on April 3rd, But What About Accessories?

(Images courtesy of 9to5Mac)There’s been plenty of rumors in recent weeks about iPad shortages -- which seem to have been false -- but now it appears that it may be the accessories for your new toy that you’ll have to start worrying about.
9to5Mac is reporting that the shipping times on
several iPad accessories seems to be in flux. The
iPad case, sure to be one of the most popular items, has shifted from April 3rd availability to mid-April. But that’s not as bad as the
iPad Keyboard Dock -- originally slated for “late April,” Apple is now showing the accessory shipping sometime in May.
Of course, if you were one of the rumored 120,000 people who got in virtual line with their preorder last Friday, these shortages probably won’t affect you. And really,
as 9to5Mac notes, it’s the U.S. customers that will be most likely to be bummed out, since the international availability of the iPad doesn’t start to roll out until late April, when the 3G models finally arrive here.
Finally, one accessory announced with the iPad in late January is still missing in action completely from Apple’s website: the
iPad Camera Kit, which allows you to connect an SD card or digital camera via USB to transfer your photos to the device. Unlike the other accessories, the iPad Camera Kit hasn’t even posted to the online store yet, and Apple has been mum on when it might finally appear. That’s a shame, since the iPad’s lack of a USB port or built-in SD card slot has been cited as a negative from potential buyers.
We’re guessing that Apple is working hard to rectify the situation, but in the meantime, if you had your heart set on one or more iPad accessories when your new friend arrives, you might want to click those Add to Cart buttons now…
