Agent 18 ClearShield for iPhone 3G
Posted 09/21/2008 at 4:12:00pm | by Susie Ochs

The ClearShield for iPhone 3G protects your iPhone with its translucent hard plastic, and it has ridges along the sides for grippiness. Two small silicone pads cushion the back of your phone against the inside of the case. All the buttons and ports are uncovered, and the opening for the dock port is fairly wide, and we were able to dock our iPhone 3G in most accessories without removing the case.

The big snag with these clear plastic cases tends to be how infuriating it is to remove one. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being incredibly easy to remove even if you have no fingernails to speak of and/or you're drunk, and 10 being you basically need dynamite to get the case open, we score the ClearShield a 3. Just pry it open from the little plastic latch on the very top.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Thirty bones is right in the sweet spot for clear iPhone cases. Being able to dock your encased phone is a nice touch too.

Nearly the same as the EcoShield, but shows you clearly don't care about the environment.

AGENT 18 CASES ARE DESTROYING iPHONES!!!!
Agent 18 cases are destroying iPhones
Here is something you should know...
The Agent 18 Eco Shield and Clear Shield cases for iPhone 3g & 3gs are DESIGNED TO OPEN ON IMPACT according to the company's owner and their customer service person.
This is happening to folks all over the place and in some cases is resulting in the destruction of the phone.
My brand new 3Gs was destroyed when it fell from a short height, landed flat on it's back, the case POPPED OPEN. it FELL OFF THE PHONE, the phone flew out of the case and landed on it's screen which shattered.
I know of multiple other instances where this is happening.
Agent 18 as a company has ZERO contact info, but with a bit of detective work and a threatening letter I was finally able to get them to respond and that is when they told me that this case is designed to do EXACTLY what I described above!
I think that the buying public, has a right to know this design detail BEFORE we plop down the $34 for this case and risk the $200 it costs to replace the iPhone.
I have photographs of the damage to my phone and links to where other people are reporting this problem if you want further verification.
Please help get the word out so that other people don't have to go through what just happened to me.
Thanks
