AirRun for iPhone Review

There have always been motivated people, the ones who never stopped, never rested, and were always on the lookout for a way to make extra money and better their lives. And there have always been lazy people, the ones who knew what needed to be done but would rather pay someone else to do it for them.
With the AirRun app for iPhone, these forces finally meet. AirRun allows you to create a profile and either post delivery jobs for hire or apply for delivery and service jobs that have been posted on the network.

Be sure to get the right estimate and pay down in advance so both sides know what to expect.
Once a job has been posted, the person hiring can review the profiles and ratings of assorted applicants, get in touch with them and create a deadline for the delivery or service. Once the job has been accepted, the person performing the delivery can pick up the item(s) in question, bring the receipt, and expect to receive a negotiable tip on top of the cost of whatever was purchased.

Be descriptive and they will come.
The app centers around a community of both employers and runners, the two sides offering their services and rating each other after the fact, thereby providing an impetus for both parties to be forthcoming and honest with each other. A series of quick introductory videos helps describe what AirRun is, what to expect and offers tips for both sides (such as to remember the receipt, how to set up your profile to elicit the best response, what to wear, etc.) and gets both sides ready to engage with each other.

The Marketplace shows local jobs for hire.
There's a great idea here and a good community behind it, but that's also the problem: you have to be in an area where the community is present. During tests, I found that I was the only AirRun user either offering or bidding for jobs in the entire Washington, D.C. area, and only when the search radius was widened did the rest of the community become visible.
The bottom line. The idea is good and the app runs well. If the AirRun idea itself can become more widespread and the community grows, the ideal vision of both the motivated and the lazy can flouish.
Requirements
iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later.
Positives
Good idea. The app runs well and this is a good connection/bidding medium for people who need a service performed and those who are willing to provide it. App is free.
Negatives
Requires close access to the AirRun community in your area. Without this, you're up a creek without a paddle.
