Cobbling together a wild assortment of makeshift mechanical whirligigs to ferry naughty swine to their destination is the task in Bad Piggies HD, which delivers a refreshing spin on the Angry Birds series and its iconic adversaries. Piggies packs the same immense charm and addictive pull of its predecessors, but it also takes the physics heavy puzzle play in a completely new direction.
Each stage in Bad Piggies HD tasks you with using a limited supply of funky spare parts to build a vehicle capable of getting your cute green piggy safely to the finish line. You start with basic rolling machines made out of wheels and boxes, but new parts eventually let you create complex, crazy contraptions using shaken-up soda bottles, helium balloons, motors, springs, propellers, explosives, and much more.
Constructing crafts is simple -- simply drag and drop parts onto a grid -- and the flexibility to design a vehicle in any way you see fit makes the process a ton of fun. Testing out your vehicle designs is also a blast, whether they succeed or not on the first go-around, since watching your machinations fall apart in spectacular wipeouts can be hilarious.
With a two main chapters focusing on ground and airborne puzzles respectively , and a massive sandbox section featuring bigger maps and lots more parts to use, Bad Piggies HD is absolutely bursting with content. Going back to retry stages to nab all three stars and unlock extras adds to the already high replay value, too.
