The BBC has long been trusted as an excellent source for worldwide and European news, and the BBC News app for iPad happily matches that journalistic prowess with a well-designed and info-packed free offering.

Dozens of stories are available to read, split between several categories.
BBC News is an attractive and up-to-date compendium of news stories split between numerous categories, including top stories, technology, entertainment, and business. You can even view news by country or region (including the Americas, United Kingdom, and Europe), and read stories in one of nine current language options.

BBC News offers a top stories news ticker and live BBC radio feed.
Navigating the app is a breeze in both portrait and landscape views, though the former has the best reading perspective, while the latter offers a greater number of categories to browse. An ever-changing news ticker at the top keeps you abreast of the latest developments while you read, and the app includes several audio and video briefings and clips, as well as a live BBC radio feed you can tune into.
BBC News still has a handful of minor bugs to knock out, but for an authoritative and comprehensive look at the stories that matter to readers all across the world, it's hard to think of a better option for the iPad.
