The toughest iPhone cases are often the bulkiest, but Crimson's Aluminum case bucks that trend. Cladding your iPhone in a rigid frame of aircraft-grade aluminum, the case's minimal design offers protection from everyday scrapes.
Installing the case is simple enough, with four small screws holding the two-piece design together. But be careful. Do you remember where that hex key is that you needed to put together your Ikea table? Now imagine keeping track of a teeny, tiny version of that, because that's what you'll need to get your phone out of the Aluminum case. It comes with two extra screws, but frankly we're far more likely to lose the one tiny hex wrench.
The stiff case will definitely protect against everyday bumps, but with a decent amount of give in the metal, we're not confident that that your iPhone would emerged unscathed from an encounter with a curb, or the edge of a table, for example.
The bottom line. The Aluminum offers good protection with only the smallest amount of bulk, but ultimately it feels more "office-grade" than "heavy-duty."
Positives
Made of aircraft-grade aluminum. Light, and very minimal. Six colors.
Negatives
You'd better not lose the tiny included hex wrench. It only frames your iPhone, so curbs, table edges, and the contents of your pocket can still do damage.
