The Cell Lens Band is really the ideal iPhone accessory, since it's just as much fun for "serious" photographers as it is for people like me whose knowledge doesn't extend far beyond "macro means really close up, right?"
Thankfully, there isn't much to know right off the bat -- the band is just that, a rubber band fitted with a macro lens. Slide the band around your phone, line up the lens over your camera's lens, and you're ready to shoot.
The iPhone on its own stinks at close-ups: any closer than a few inches and your subject quickly becomes a blurry mess. With this band, you'll get startingly sharp focus at even just an inch or two, and better detail of the texture of each surface you photograph. Examples are below, and with better lighting and some practice I'm sure you could easily surpass them.
Using this band is fun like giving a little kid his first digital camera is fun -- suddenly you want to run around taking close-ups of everything you see. Even mundane things (a tortilla chip, a plush toy, a pencil) is potentially a cool macro shot, and you'll want to try them all. While you're experimenting, you'll notice you get the best results with plenty of light (the band covers the flash, after all, but that's a good thing) and while holding the camera as still as possible. And of course practicing those things will make you a better iPhone photographer overall.
The bottom line. If you're an iPhone photography nerd, you definitely need this. If you're not (yet), the Macro Lens Band could turn you into one.

iPhone, iPod touch, or nearly any smartphone with a camera
Works with multiple devices and probably future ones too. Easy to carry. Fun to use. Covers the flash (yes, this is a pro and not a con).
Not sure it'll hold up for a long time. Works best without an iPhone case.
