Mind your peas and carrots.
Grocery IQ, a surprisingly robust app that will streamline your shopping experience, is everything Apple's Notes isn’t. More than just a page in a digital pad, Grocery IQ does most of the heavy lifting for you, with a 130,000-item search engine that eliminates the guesswork. For example, instead of “bread,” Grocery IQ’s database narrows down the brand, type, and grain with just a few taps.
Items can be arranged by category or aisle, just in case you’ve memorized the layout of your local market. Completed lists can then be emailed as text, though they lose some of Grocery IQ’s finer qualities, such as the ability to check off items as they are purchased or store favorites for quick reference. Only one list can be created at a time, so you'll have to annotate each item accordingly if you frequent more than one market. It's a pain, but the developers say a future update will take care of that, while also integrating “a free syncing and list-sharing service that allows you to sync your lists among multiple iPhones,” a feature many of our spouses are anxiously awaiting.
Grocery IQ is fun and functional. You might find yourself polishing off the last bit of ice cream just to add it to next week's shopping list.
