The thought of creepy monsters lurking under the bed, in the murky depths of the closet, and in other dark places around the house is enough to give most young kids nightmares, but Hiding Monsters puts a fun and friendly spin on uncovering creatures that go bump in the night. This colorful, interactive storybook app delivers a short, cheerful tale of mischievous monster pals that your kids will love to poke and prod through.
Playing hide and seek gets off to a charming start, as goofy narrator Mookie the Monster explains that he and his buds love hiding as much as they love scaring. Fortunately, you won't find any of the latter in this upbeat adventure. Each scene gives a snippet of story narrated by Mookie in an amusing rhyme, and young readers are encouraged to poke the environment to uncover the friendly monster hidden there, with each item that gets prodded responding with a fun little animation sequence.

Mookie's monster friends range from a Godzilla-like lizard beast and a wingless tooth fairy to a belching yeti and steam-spewing dragon. They're all friendly, and more than a little silly. Once uncovered, you can poke them to produce giggle-inducing effects, like making them grow, spray bubbles, burp, and throw snowballs, among other things. The book even wraps up on a high note, gathering all of the monster friends together and bidding a fond farewell to readers as they wrap it up.
The bottom line. Hiding Monsters is a short, sweet book that your kids will love interacting with. It teaches friendship, which is great, and though it's not a very deep experience in terms of functionality, it makes up for it with a charming presentation.
