Leopard’s heavily hyped Spaces feature kind of sucks. Sure, it’s nice to quickly scan through your windows, but if you want more preferences and flexibility, get Hyperspaces.
Hyperspaces is a fully realized Spaces that lives in your menu bar and can be activated with programmable shortcuts. It allows you to customize each space, from wallpaper and menu bar transparency to whether the Dock is hidden or not. You can even set sexy space-switching animations, though these actions come at a price—Hyperspaces can slow down older computers to intolerable levels.
The bottom line. If you use Leopard’s built-in Spaces, you should get this, regardless of its shortcomings.
Positives
Custom wallpapers, Dock preferences and animations for each space. Tint background pictures.
Negatives
Slow. Occasionally freezes your Dock.
