We haven’t seen anything else this feature-rich. AmpliTube is like a private playground for guitar geeks, and the iRig is the key that opens it.

SoundHound for iPad

It's an impressive set of features built around identifying and discovering new artists and songs, though the free version comes with an unfortunate caveat -- a limit of just five song IDs per month. But for $5, the premium release offers more than enough functionality for music junkies to find a spot for SoundHound in the home screen dock.

Twitterific

Twitterrific is a free, ad-supported download, but a $4.99 in-app purchase is available to strip away the ads and unlock the ability to save multiple Twitter accounts. The free version should be fine for most folks, but if you're a power user or have multiple Twitter users in the house -- or simply want to support a well-produced app -- it's worth dropping a few bucks to upgrade.

Logitech Squeezebox Touch

The Squeezebox Touch makes a great network music player. It’s occasionally more complicated than necessary, such as when swapping audio libraries, but its many benefits compensate for its shortcomings. We only wish that the great touchscreen was detachable, so that you could use it to control songs from anywhere.
