Tap Tap Revenge: Nine Inch Nails Edition
Posted 11/06/2008 at 1:10:18pm | by Mike Spitalieri

I want to Tap you like an animal.

Trent Reznor has a knack for promoting his music through technology, whether it's using an alternate reality game or releasing his albums for free on BitTorrent. It should come as little surprise then that Reznor himself hand picked the 13 NIN tracks presented in Tap Tap Revenge: Nine Inch Nails Edition.

Aside from a more sanguine interface and the lack of a download option for more tracks, Tap Tap Revenge: NIN is just like the original; we wish it could have been delivered as update instead of another standalone app. You tap the touchscreen and flick the iPhone in time with the music to score points and Revenge power-ups. The thirteen recent NIN tracks, off of the band's two latest albums Ghosts I-IV and The Slip, range from industrial techno to heavy metal. The music complements both the furious tapping and subtle grooves within the game.

But strangely, there aren't any recognizable hits or singles in the pack. And two-player mode is incredibly awkward, as both players have to hold the same iPhone and simultaneously tap on opposite sides of the touchscreen. Come on guys, if Galcon can do it, surely you can put together a local wireless feature.

What would have really rocked is if the tracks could also be played iTunes. Oh, well. We guess Trent didn't want to bite "The Hand That Feeds."

THE BOTTOM LINE
Tap Tap Revenge: NIN Edition is a must own for any NIN fan. Just don't expect any innovations within the core game.

avatarClassic on Mac OC 10.5

I red, in one of your articles, that there was a program that would run Classic supported applications on Mac OS 10.5.
If so, could you give me the name of the program.
Thank you,
Lindsey Anderson
