The difference between a blanket and a security blanket is subtle but unmistakable: A blanket goes on the bed or the couch, and it’s just for keeping warm. But a security blanket is part of your entourage. It’s with you all the time, it’s got a cutesy pet name, and you feel a little lost without it. For those of us who haven’t had a security blanket in decades, meet Toddy.
This double-sided wonder cloth has plush microfiber that doesn’t just spread dirt and oil from your fingerprints around on your iPhone’s screen. It whisks them away with a couple of swipes, leaving nothing but a clean screen and warm sense of self-satisfaction. Flip it over, and the silky, decorated side polishes your device even further, while its tactile pleasantness tempts you to just rub it against your face, like your beloved childhood blankie.
Two-sided Toddy is so good-looking we wish it came in beach-towel size.
Toddy even has adorable names for each design. The one I tested -- the Bar Czar -- has a baby blue plush side and deep brown silky side with smart blue and aqua stripes. ToddyGear.com features 42 styles in four collections, or you can brand it with your company’s logo if you’re buying 250 or more. I machine-washed and -dried my Toddy with no ill effects, and the AEGIS Microbe Shield protects against germs, mildew, and mold between launderings.
The bottom line. The 5x7-inch Toddy ($14.99) keeps an iPad or iPhone sparkling, and the larger 9x9 size ($16.99) is handy for iMacs and Cinema Displays. Even if you think $15-and-up is ridiculous for a cleaning cloth, the well-made, stylish Toddy could change your mind. Now that I’ve got one, it never leaves my side.

We wish it were about $5 cheaper, but it’s still a decent value.
