Topple 2

This might not end well.

choiceIn Topple 2, your enemy is gravity, as are weirdly shaped pieces that aren’t always conducive to tidy stacking. As the pieces drop from the top of the screen, you arrange them into the most stable stack you can. Strange perches will make them wobble and wave, and if four pieces dislodge from the stack and fall away before the stack height reaches the goal, you’ve lost the level.

It sounds simple, but it’s wildly addictive, with cute facial expressions on the blocks, and the “WHOOOOOOA!” sense you get from watching your stack sway precariously. Some levels have you stack upside down (starting at sea level and creating an underwater chain), build a tower stable enough to catch a dropped egg, or build a power line with electric pieces. With 30 levels overall, and the ability to challenge friends on the same Wi-Fi network or over email (a nice touch), our fun lasted hours. Although the email challenge sort of reads like a commercial if your friend doesn’t already own Topple 2. Version 1.1 will mute your iPod music at launch, but ngmoco says version 1.2 (out by the time you read this) will support iPod tunes, plus let you challenge friends over Twitter and Facebook.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Another winner from the creators of WordFu and Rolando.
