It's unlikely that the newly redesigned TuneWiki is going to replace your iOS music player or service of choice. There are any number of apps out there that are slicker and more innovative with better features and discovery tools. But if you need to know what Taylor Swift is really saying in the chorus of "Red," you'll at least want to give it a shot.

When it's first launched, TuneWiki scans your library of music (including anything in iTunes Match) and loads it into its own Music-like player. Tapping a song begins playing it quickly, even when streaming from the cloud, but cluttered as it may be, you won't want to leave TuneWiki's now-playing window.

Just below the album art are karaoke-style lyrics that match up pretty well to the song that's playing, and if something is amiss -- like any live or remixed track -- it can be fixed on the Sync screen. Much like its website, TuneWiki boasts a massive database of lyrics that can be displayed in dozens of languages, but I didn't have to try too hard to stump it with less mainstream fare. Manual scrolling isn't allowed in the lyrics window, but as you fast-forward through a song, the words shift accordingly.

TuneWiki does other things, but nothing as well as displaying lyrics. There's a Shazam ripoff to identify songs you hear, but I couldn't get it to work properly with any consistency. Facebook and Twitter integration turns it into something of a social network for sharing and finding tunes and album art, but I had trouble signing in; even when I successfully linked my Twitter account, nothing about it seemed all that useful or innovative. I experienced some lag and a crash or two, but at least my music never stopped playing.

The bottom line. You'll still look foolish singing along to your iPhone, but TuneWiki will at least help you get most of the words right.
