Twitterific Review
Though we may be waiting some time for an official Twitter option for iPad, fans of Twitterrific for iPhone and Mac will be pleased to hear that the iPad version leads the current pack of third-party options. Twitterrific's grey-heavy interface is simple and clean-looking, letting you clearly scroll through the tweets of those you follow and take in Twitter's trending topics all on the same page (in landscape orientation).

Use Twitterrific in landscape mode to see trends and swap between categories.
Ease of use and speed are both highlights of The Iconfactory's app, which quickly loads URLs using the in-app browser, plus uses unobtrusive popover menus to display images and user profiles with a single touch. Twitterrific's initial iPad debut was a little short on features, but subsequent updates have brought the ability to upload photos and videos to various services, among other tweaks and fixes.

Popover menus let you see profiles and pictures without delay.
Twitterrific is a free, ad-supported download, but a $4.99 in-app purchase is available to strip away the ads and unlock the ability to save multiple Twitter accounts. The free version should be fine for most folks, but if you're a power user or have multiple Twitter users in the house -- or simply want to support a well-produced app -- it's worth dropping a few bucks to upgrade.

The black/gray background is really disturbing. You can't clearly see what's going on. I much prefer Echofon, on iPad, iPhone, and Mac! The ads on the free version are very unobtrusive.

I can't say I agree with you on this one since finding Twitepad last week...with features that are innovative and blow Twitterific out of the water. Most notably:
1. Browser and timeline visible at same time
2. Open multiple URLs in same browser window with each appearing as thumbnail (that can toggle between and hide)
3. All tweets cached on iPad so load quickly
4. Double gray line in timeline at place where 200 calls exceeded, tap on it and downloads next 200 missing tweets so never have to miss any tweets if didn't check for many hours
5. Drag timeline column to the right, and your mentions appear as new column. Keep dragging and your directs appear, etc.
6. Easily save to instapaper or tweet from browser window (not unique to this app but just to show it also does many other things we expect from these apps)Missing but apparently coming in v 1.3 when I emailed them to ask: mail tweet to someone
So, got rid of twitterific and don't really understand why it got such a big following.

Sorry but Twitterific is the one ap for my iPad that I avoided like the plague.
To me its old and tired looking, even on the iPad. TweetDeck, please its over kill and really
I hate running anything with Adobe Air on my laptop, just as bad as Flash so why would I want
to run something similar on my iPad.Twittelator and the "new kid on the block" Osfoora for iPad put both of those to shame in design and
speed. Can someone please look at other Twitter aps besides Twitterific and TweetDeck.
